RESPONSIVE, RELIABLE PORT SERVICES

Map-pin Bristol, United Kingdom

OSPREY’S PORT SERVICES TEAM HANDLE ALL SITUATIONS

Osprey’s port services team has been working out of Bristol Port for over 25 years. In short, vessel owners trust us to handle the port agency for complex multi-million pound cargoes of all kinds. RoRo, breakbulk, containers, oversized cargoes – along with all the documentation, negotiable Bills of Lading, inventory-linked and non-inventory linked customs entries and supporting services. Above all, we’re trusted to underpin our experience with a responsive approach. When vessel owners and clients need action, we’re on side.

WE HELP AVOID DELAYS

There are so many aspects to port agency. Cargoes, vessels, people, governance, the environment – the day-in, day-out documentation can be the ‘routine’ of our work, but it can also make the difference between getting goods into and out of the country on time. Delays to those schedules may have a knock-on effect, thousands of miles away. We like to think that’s the reason so many clients stay with us for years – clients like Grimaldi, K-Line, Hoegh, Hyundai-Glovis & Louis-Dreyfus trust us because we have the experience and relationships to be responsive and reliable.

With our premises at Bristol being less than a minute away from the physical berths, we’re on hand to handle any challenge that arises. What’s more, our experiences mean we’ve learned the nuances of different cultures, stakeholders, teams, crews and port communities – and how they need us to respond in different situations.

  • DEALING WITH IMMIGRATION ISSUES: When a crew member was declared unfit for duty recently, it also meant he wasn’t fit to fly. We arranged for him to see a local doctor; we organised taxis, accommodation and hospital visits; and handled the immigration procedure and processes.
  • HIGH VALUE RELATIONSHIPS: BMW needed to ship two cars of exceptionally high value. Their shipment involved transportation to international trade exhibitions, one in Japan and one in Singapore. If anything goes awry, each situation demands a different approach. We represented the owners, handling the Carnets, adding the cargoes to the electronic port inventory, physically taking all documentation through to Bristol International Trade Customs Desk for prompt endorsement – we’ve built up the relationships to make complex shipments go smoothly.
  • SOURCING PARTNERS: Non running cargo breaking down on vessel ramps, we try to use contractors of choice. These are the teams we trust to deliver high levels of service, but also to work as partners if circumstances change at a moment’s notice. We’re mindful of vessels, people, cargoes and the environment.

DEEPER LEVELS OF TRUST

From Carnets, to T1s, and inventory-linked or non-inventory linked customs entries – these are our bread and butter. But where many agents can handle the standard documentation for a vessel coming in to Bristol – plus the pilotage, towage, liaising for berths and timetables etc. – we also offer the collation of negotiable documents. We’re trusted to collate original Bills of Lading, and to safely store and submit those documents. It’s a deeper level of trust, one that’s built up over years, and it’s this expertise that lets us handle last-minute queries with ease.
