Does size matter? Yes. To a point. Infrastructure scope may or may not have plateaued for the time being, and there are still constraints we all face due to the limitations imposed by moving a chassis around our road network (we can also overcome this challenge and have done in many projects).

However, our team knows how to use this equipment to tackle incredibly difficult access problems in complex, built-up locations. And, it’s one of only a few 1,000-tonne cranes available in the UK. Our clients have seen how, with a little ingenuity, our Heavy Lift team has discovered new ways to use these cranes, new ways to rig them (particularly in tight spaces), and new ways to use their capability for projects that might otherwise seem impossible.

Supported by one of the UK’s largest fleet of SPMTs – which, in its own right, has proven to be a problem-solver for clients who’ve imagined a crane-solution – our LTM1800 has a main boom length of 60 metres. It takes up to 160te in counterweight and has up to 91 metres of luffing fly jib. And it’s one of only a few 1,000 tonne cranes available in the UK.

However, with a ‘quick release’ slew ring on this crane, we can also remove the upper works and take everything into a site by low loader – we bring the axle loadings down to a class leading minimum, which means the LTM1800 can be ideal for sites with challenging access.

When we fit the derrick and the super lift attachment, we can also raise the lifting capacity of the LTM1800 to 1000te. The derrick (or back mast) can be fitted alone to as a strengthened telescopic boom, or in combination with 200te of super-lift counterweight to further increase the lifting capacity
