From Placement Engineer to Acting Project Engineer in One Year
Engineering has always been about solving problems for Anna Campbell. Now, as a Placement Project Engineer with Osprey at Hinkley Point C, she is applying that mindset to some of the UK’s most complex infrastructure challenges.
Anna is studying Engineering Design with Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol and joined Osprey for her industrial placement year to gain hands-on experience in project delivery. Since arriving on site, she has become an integral member of the team, supporting the planning and delivery of critical transport, lifting and installation operations across the Hinkley Point C project.

During her placement, Anna has contributed to major engineering activities including transformer installation works and the transport and installation of Main Steam Relief (MSR) Telebundles. Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, she has been involved in developing engineering documentation, installation methodologies, lift plans and risk assessments that help ensure complex operations are delivered safely and efficiently.
What sets Anna apart is her commitment to learning. Before university, she independently studied Further Mathematics through distance learning when it was not available at her school, demonstrating the determination and initiative that continue to define her approach today. At Osprey, she has embraced every opportunity to develop her technical knowledge, gain practical experience and take on new responsibilities.
Anna believes the best engineers are curious, collaborative and never stop asking questions. That mindset has helped her quickly adapt to life on a major construction project and build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Reflecting on her placement, Anna says the opportunity to work on one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe has been invaluable, giving her a real understanding of how engineering, logistics and project delivery come together to make complex operations possible.
As she prepares to return to university, Anna leaves behind a strong contribution to the Project and a reputation as a talented young engineer with a promising future in the industry.
