Barge Supervisor

Avonmouth Docks, Bristol - Permanent

We’re looking for a permanent Barge Supervisor to join our team, based in Avonmouth Docks, Bristol.

The Barge supervisor will be accountable for the safe operation of the HPC project delivery and base barges and support in the marine delivery aspects of the project where required (e.g. management of Combwich Wharf MOLF). The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the management of dumb cargo barges in RoRo / LoLo configuration in a high-quality right-first-time environment.
The Barge Supervisor is accountable for:
  • Barge Operations – Support Marine Operations Lead with all the HPC barge transportation operations, and operational planning requirements. Ensure safe marine operations at all times and positive relationships are developed and maintained throughout the team.
  • Lead Barge Operations – Manage loadouts and load-ins at project locations (Avonmouth and Combwich) in accordance with engineering provided (including but not limited to – ballast pump operation, winch operation, mooring, setting out deck layouts etc) without reliance on Marine Operations Lead.
  • Marine Hot Works – Manage the preparation of mobilisation & demobilisation of deck spread and securing equipment to include grinding and other associated methods.
  • Barge Maintenance – Ensure barges and equipment are managed and maintained in line with legislative and project requirements.
  • Marine Supplier Coordination – Liaise with marine suppliers, ensuring suppliers deliver services as required.
  • Training & Development – Developing, maintaining, and managing the training standards of the marine team.
