We’re looking for permanent Slinger/ Signallers to join our team, based in Portishead, North Somerset. There are multiple positions available for this role, and we’re looking for local people to join us!

Your new role

The Slinger/ Signaller will be a key part of the Osprey team and responsible for the execution of onsite operations working with Osprey’s fleet of cranes, rigging equipment and other assets. Working as part of the heavy lifting team in the Projects Division, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle within a project, such as working to QHSE standards, following detailed RAMS and engineered drawings, mobilisation/demobilisation of equipment and carrying out complex lifting activities.

The Slinger/ Signaller is accountable for:

  • Operational Delivery – ensuring site activities are conducted in alignment with Osprey’s standards and procedures, as well as working to defined Rams and Lift Plans produced by engineers, supporting and assisting the Osprey team on the safe and efficient delivery of projects.
  • Site Relationships – developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Osprey colleagues, and supporting client conversations when required. Ensure clear lines of communication as part of a lift team.
  • Industry Knowledge – following industry best practice, share training and learning with others, being aware of legislation and regulations applicable to all tasks conducted as part of this role.
  • Lifting Expertise – ensure that lifting activities are conducted in a manner in keeping with Osprey’s requirements and LOLER. Ensure that pre-use checks are conducted, any defects are reported to your line manager and assist with basic maintenance as required.
  • Technical Expertise – understand the principles of lifting activities – covering basic and complex lifts utilising all types of lifting tackle. Ability to identify defective lifting tackle and remove from use.
