THE UK’S LARGEST BARGE FLEET
A large barge fleet is good – knowing how to use those barges to deliver innovation into the blue energy sector, is better.
Blue energy is thriving, and rightly so. Our vessels let us supply solutions for almost any project. We have ocean-going barges, which we’ve used deep-sea from Europe to Africa and South America, and smaller vessels that can use the inland waterways and lock systems throughout the UK and Europe.
- Critical asset transport
- Barge-based storage platforms
- Crane and construction platforms
- RORO load-outs and load-ins
- Temporary landing facilities
- Floating and moveable concrete batching plants
It’s not just the size of our fleet, it’s how we use our barges to your advantage. You can see our approach here – innovative solutions to what might otherwise be project-challenging problems.
We also excel at specialised projects, such as interconnecting four barges with one of the largest vessels in the world – Allsea’s Pioneering Spirit catamaran hull – to provide the platform for a theatre and marquees for the vessel’s naming ceremony. Engineered and assembled in weeks and safe for 1,000 people.
We’re also the only UK barge owner and operator that’s transported every major component of an offshore wind farm, including foundations (monopiles, transition pieces and jackets), towers, nacelles and blades, and offshore cables. All by barge, all on time and on budget.
OFFSHORE, ONSHORE
The way we work, blue energy providers can be confident of seamless transitions. We’ve been successfully transporting critical cargoes for the renewable energy, oil and gas, and power industries for years. Port-to-port, port-to-offshore, offshore-to-onshore – factory to foundation. We operate our own barges, but we also have our own inventory of onshore equipment for near-shore construction, too, which guarantees scheduling and access to a large number of SPMTs and heavy-lift cranes.
Our team is super-connected and well-respected. Our in-house expertise gives you access to every conceivable form of multi-modal transport, which provides everything from straightforward cable storage to complex offshore scheduling and seabed installations – and if we don’t have a solution today, then we’ll create one tomorrow. It’s all part of our standard approach, finding the right way to deliver your project on time and on budget. It’s the Osprey Way of Working.
CONFIDENCE IN CABLING LOGISTICS
Cabling transport is a specialised service. To the untrained eye, offshore cables appear to be sturdy items but the truth of the matter is, they’re highly sensitive components. Blue energy depends on cables’ core integrity being properly protected.
Spooling these cables properly – under strict manufacturers guidelines and OEM instructions for cable handling – is essential. That’s why we work with trusted partners to spool cable from their existing storage baskets into transportable baskets for the voyage – using our bespoke carousels if necessary to facilitate dual spooling.
